What happens when you clean up files in NeatDrive?

NeatDrive doesn't delete anything immediately. A scan identifies issues — duplicates, over-shared files, stale content, and oversized storage hogs — and groups them into a cleanup plan for you to review. When you choose to apply cleanups, files move to a secure quarantine folder with a full audit trail. You have 30 days to restore anything before it's permanently removed. Nothing changes without your explicit review and approval first.

Do you ever read or store your file contents?

Not by default. NeatDrive only accesses file metadata — names, sizes, creation dates, modification dates, and sharing permissions. We never open, read, index, or store the actual content of your files for standard audits. File contents are only accessed for opt-in features like AI renaming, and only on files you specifically select. NeatDrive is pursuing CASA Tier 2 security certification (Cloud Application Security Assessment), which independently validates our data handling practices. Your files stay in your Drive.
